PROJECT: RECEREATING A RENAISSANCE PAINTING
PROJECT: RECREATING A RENAISSANCE PAINTING
CONSOEUR BENEDICTE J. CABILES - BMMA 1ST YEAR 2ND SEMESTER
For this EXERCISE: 04 RECREATING A RENAISSANCE PAINTING, I have chosen the painting by the great Renaissance Artist back in the day: Sandro Botticelli titled "The Return of Judith to Bethulia" which narrates a heroic story of Judith, which is described as a beautiful young widow, she resolves to save her people by slaying Holofernes herself. After reciting a long prayer to God, she dons her finest clothes in order to seduce him. She is kinda like a female version of david who sought victory for her people that requires bravery and strength to defeat Holofernes which was a man who is an invading Assyrian general who also caused harm to women at those ancient times. This painting just have this ambiance of empowerment and the style was very unique with every detail and strokes contributing to the whole beuty of the art piece.
In the art piece that I have created, I merged my art style with concepts of Filipino related clothing. I played around with the waves of the fabric and the flow and movement of the hair. The characters are much more closed which gives this idea that they are conversing. A very minimal touch on the background with details fading to give highlight to the main characters.
